About The Riftbreaker

The Riftbreaker is a base-building, survival game with Action-RPG elements. You are an elite scientist/commando inside an advanced Mecha-Suit capable of dimensional rift travel. Hack & slash countless enemies. Build up your base, collect samples and research new inventions to survive.

Story setup

You play the role of captain Ashley S. Nowak - you are the Riftbreaker, an elite scientist/commando inside a powerful Mecha-Suit. Enter a one-way portal to Galatea 37, a distant planet at the far reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, with the purpose of building up a base that will allow travel back to Earth and further colonization. Ashley's Mecha-suit, which she calls "Mr. Riggs", can withstand the harshest environmental conditions and has a full range of equipment for base construction, resource extraction, gathering specimens and of course - combat. It is capable of traveling through rifts that connect space across vast distances.

This game features moderate violence against fantasy alien characters, involving the use of bladed weapons and firearms. When these characters are hit, blood effects are shown and the characters may explode when defeated. Defeated characters disappear almost immediately, leaving behind blood stained areas. The aliens are shown from a distance and lack detail.

The Riftbreaker is a polished modern hybrid where horde defense is a constant pressure, not a phase you dip in and out of. You build a base, automate resource extraction, and then watch increasingly large swarms try to dismantle your perimeter. The exosuit combat adds direct agency. What keeps it out of the top 10 is that the base-building and automation systems pull the identity away from pure tower defense. If that broader hybrid scope sounds like more fun than a constraint, it is one of the most production-ready games on this entire page, available on both PS5 and PC.
