Forza Motorsport

I sank many hours into this one, and it still sits second because Horizon is easier to recommend. Forza Motorsport is the proper circuit racer on the service, and it suits how I like to drive: one clean lap, a braking point you either hit or miss, and a tuning screen to fiddle with between sessions. I settled the Gran Turismo versus Forza argument by playing both, and this one has the advantage of already being in your subscription. A pad works. The game clearly wants a wheel. Newcomers will find it far less forgiving than Horizon.

Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo have traded blows for best console sim racer for as long as I've played both, and honestly, I've stopped keeping score. I just play them. Motorsport is the cleaner circuit racer of the two on Xbox, built around proper grid racing instead of open-road spectacle, and the handling rewards actual racecraft: braking points, tire management, knowing when to defend a corner rather than mash the throttle. It doesn't have Horizon's variety or instant appeal, and the career structure feels thinner than it should for a game this focused on progression. What it does have is some of the most convincing wheel-to-wheel racing on Xbox right now, especially once the assists come off and the car is allowed to misbehave under braking.

Forza Motorsport has the car roster, the track variety, and the visual quality to anchor a serious race night on PC. Private multiplayer works, the handling sits in a simcade range that is approachable without being dumbed down, and the lap times feel meaningful. What keeps it off the main list is pacing. The event setup is a few steps less snappy than the arcade picks, and the session flow benefits from a host who knows the game well enough to configure things quickly. For a group that specifically wants clean circuit racing and is comfortable with a bit of setup overhead, it is a perfectly good choice.
