Skullgirls 2nd Encore has the best fighting game tutorial suite I have played. Not the most approachable game, but the most thorough teaching experience. It explains resets, assists, team size trade-offs, and the logic behind pressure in a way that transfers to other fighters. My group tried it at a LAN session expecting a short detour and stayed for most of the evening. Development has officially ended, which is worth knowing before you invest. Servers are still running. The game itself is mechanically excellent and the team system scales well with different group sizes. It is a connoisseur's pick now more than a mainstream must-have, and that is fine.
