Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a 2024 fighting game compilation developed and published by Capcom. It includes Marvel Super Heroes (1995), Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (1998), and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000), marking the first time these titles became available on new platforms since the seventh generation of video game consoles, as well as the first faithful console port of the beat 'em up title The Punisher (1993) and the first new console versions for X-Men: Children of the Atom (1994), X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996), and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997) since their initial console releases.

Story setup

MvC2 The Armor of Erosion... It was supposed to be nothing but a fairy tale... But now its here and the end is approaching. The wheels of fate have brought forth a disaster of untold proportions. Marine life is twisted by the evil wind that blows in from the deep ocean. But light shines the brightest in the deepest dark, and our heroes have gathered. Their destination, the deep abyss known as the Sea of Genesis...

The Best Fighting Games on PS5 2026

The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection bundles several foundational crossover tag fighters into a single PS5 package, which is something worth knowing about if you are building a fighting game library. I played Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with friends taking turns on the controller years ago, and having that history accessible on current hardware is genuinely good. The caveat is that these are preserved arcade experiences, not modernized competitive releases. The onboarding reflects that age. If you want a current ranked ladder, look elsewhere. If you want a concentrated piece of tag-fighter history with online play attached, this is the best way to access it on PS5 right now.
