I have played a lot of Anno, and this is probably my favourite entry. Rome is a setting I will happily wander around in, and here it drives the maths: two provinces, Latium and Albion, each with its own resources, so no single supply chain keeps everyone happy. You are balancing grain, ships and whatever the next tier of citizens demands, then zooming out to a city that looks lived in. It asks for an hour of patience before the economy makes sense. Combat takes a back seat. It is a game about logistics, and it never pretends otherwise.
