South of Midnight is the most atmospheric game in this whole stretch of the list. You play Hazel, a weaver who mends tangled folktales of the Deep South, and the handcrafted look is unlike anything else on the service. The story and the mood are the draw, while the combat and platforming stay merely solid. I like a game that knows it has something to say, and this one mostly does. It missed the top 10 because ten more rounded games got there first. Worth an evening, maybe two.
