Blue Prince is the most interesting recent puzzle game I have come across. The structure is unusual: you are drafting rooms into a procedurally shifting mansion, taking notes on a real notepad, and slowly untangling what the house is actually trying to tell you. It missed the top ten because it is genuinely niche. The note-taking demands real patience and the puzzle layering will lose players who want clearer progress signals. But for the right person, specifically the type who enjoys the investigative side of Outer Wilds or the deduction angle of Obra Dinn, this is exactly that kind of game. Worth watching as it builds its legacy.

Blue Prince caught me completely off guard. I downloaded it expecting a pleasant puzzle game and got something much stranger. The house rearranges itself each run, and working out the underlying logic of why rooms appear where they do is genuinely involving in a way that most puzzle games never reach. I stayed up past midnight twice in the same week trying to figure out what I was missing. The broad appeal scores are lower than the blockbusters around it, and that is fair: this is a game for people who enjoy being confused productively. If you are tired of action games and want something that will occupy your thoughts after you put the controller down, nothing on this list does that job better.
Blue Prince is the newest game on this list and it earns its spot on merit rather than novelty. The structure is room-by-room exploration with a mystery threading through every run, and the low-spec presentation means it handles suspend-and-resume without any drama. It carries a Playable rather than Verified label, but in practice the controller support is comfortable and the text stays readable. I kept thinking about it between sessions, which is not something I say lightly. My schedule does not have room for games that do not give me a reason to come back, and this one kept giving me one.
