About Ys X: Nordics

Ys X: Nordics is a brand-new adventure set in the northern sea Obelia Bay, featuring young adventurer Adol Christin as the protagonist. Please look forward to this latest title in the Ys series, from the development team that brought you Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.

Story setup

This journey takes place in the northern islands collectively known as Obelia Gulf. In this harsh land, the young adventurer, Adol Christin, encounters the Normans, a seafaring tribe, and is quickly drawn into the conflict between them, the townsfolk of Obelia Gulf, and the Griegr, undying monsters with mysterious agenda. Partnering up with the Norman warrior, Karja, Adol must take to the waters of Obelia Gulf, navigating vast stretches of ocean, consulting maritime maps, and even getting into naval battles with enemy ships.

Best Steam Deck RPGs in 2026

Ys X: Nordics plays exactly like you want an action JRPG to play on a handheld: fast, responsive, generous with checkpoints, and never demanding more system resources than the Deck can comfortably provide. The Falcom formula is reliable in the best way. Combat has snap to it, the buddy mechanic with Karja adds real variety, and the overall RPG structure is more substantial than the breezy tone implies. It narrowly missed the main list because the RPG depth does not quite compete with the top ten overall, but for pure action JRPG comfort on Deck it is one of the best current options.
