Demon's Souls

Demon's Souls on PS5 still looks like a launch tech demo for the console, and on a good OLED it genuinely shows. I fired this up mostly for the visuals and stayed for the invasions, that specific tension of never knowing if a hostile player is about to drop into your world mid-boss-fight. The co-op summoning is old-school and a little clunky by modern standards. Mostly, you play alone. Still, if you want a soulslike where the online layer adds real dread instead of just convenience, this remains one of the best-looking ways to get it on PS5.

Demon's Souls remains one of the best-looking things you can put on a PS5, and the build variety and stat-driven combat are proper RPG systems underneath all that atmosphere. It's also fighting an uphill battle for a spot on this list because Elden Ring already covers the same FromSoftware-style space, with a bigger world and more build options. I still fire this up occasionally just to look at it, which says something about how well the remake holds up technically. If you already own Elden Ring, this is a nice-to-have rather than a must-play. If not, it's a great place to start.
