About Little Nightmares III

Embark on a new adventure in the unique world of Little Nightmares. In Little Nightmares III, you follow the journey of Low & Alone, as they search for a path that could lead them out of the Nowhere. Trapped within the Spiral, a cluster of disturbing places, the two friends will have to work together to survive in a dangerous world full of delusions and escape the grasp of an even greater threat lurking in the shadows. For the first time in the franchise, face your childhood fears together with a friend using online co-op, or solo with an AI companion.

Story setup

Two children, Low, a boy in a raven mask, and Alone, a girl in a green jumpsuit and aviator hat, find themselves lost in the Spiral, a cluster of eerie, oversized lands. Together they journey through nightmarish places, a desert Necropolis watched over by a colossal doll, a sprawling Candy Factory, a sinister traveling Carnevale, and a decaying overgrown Institute, each stalked by grotesque, towering monsters. Relying on Low's bow and Alone's wrench, the pair must solve the dangers of each realm and stay one step ahead of the horrors pursuing them as they search for a way out.

Best Xbox Horror Co-Op Games in 2026

Little Nightmares III is two-player only and online-only, which is a narrower setup than I would like. But within that constraint it delivers exactly what the series promises: a world that is beautiful and horrible in equal measure, with enemies that are designed to make your skin crawl and environments that feel three times your size. Playing as Low and Alone across chapters that were built around partner coordination means the co-op never feels added on. The atmosphere scored near the top of this list for a reason. If you want gunplay and action, look elsewhere. This is pure dread, shared.
