Nioh 2 is brutal, and punishing difficulty for its own sake usually loses me fast. This one is different because co-op missions let a stronger player carry a weaker one through fights that would otherwise end a solo run in frustration. The loot system is dense even by soulslike standards, full gear sets with rolled stats stacked on top of weapon variety, and building a character here takes real investment. I played a handful of missions with a friend who had never touched a Souls game, and the gap between his solo attempts and our co-op runs was night and day. Not a pick-up-and-play RPG. Give it a few sessions before deciding if the systems are for you.
