Sky: Children of the Light

Sky does not explain itself much, and that turns out to be exactly right. You are a small luminous figure gliding through vast, gorgeous environments, occasionally encountering other players who cannot speak to you but can hold your hand and lead you somewhere new. No objectives. No timer. I loaded it up expecting to bounce off it quickly and ended up spending a full evening just moving through it. The visual polish is exceptional, better than most paid games at this price point. Progression is lighter than Palia and the seasonal live-service structure means content does cycle, but what is there at any given time is worth your attention.

Sky is one of the most visually serene games on PS5. You glide through enormous dreamlike environments, find other players wandering the same spaces, and piece together fragments of a gentle story. The atmosphere is genuinely calming in a way few games match. It missed the top ten because it requires an online connection to function, which makes it less evergreen than the offline entries and means your experience depends partly on other players being present. For anyone who is comfortable with that dependency, the core experience is beautiful and soft. Free to download, worth trying before committing to anything.

Sky sits at ten because it's genuinely different from everything above it, and that difference is worth acknowledging. There's no combat, no gear grinding, and no DPS to optimize. Co-op here means guiding other players through environments, sharing light to restore each other's abilities, and collaborating on traversal and gentle puzzles. It's the only pick on this list that works across age gaps and skill gaps without any friction. The season pass (around $9.99) gates some seasonal content and cosmetics, and the friend-linking mechanic is a bit unusual for players used to standard invite flows. It runs on PS4 backward compatibility rather than a native PS5 client. But as a calm, accessible co-op experience for duos or mixed groups, nothing else on this list comes close to what it offers.
