TowerFall has the same energy my old Unreal Tournament LAN nights used to have: tight arenas, quick reflexes, and absolutely no mercy for whoever just picked up the game. Bows and arrows. One hit kills. Rounds rarely last more than twenty seconds, and even a beginner is competitive by their third match. Local versus supports up to six with a couch full of extra controllers, and the co-op mode against waves of enemies is a different, calmer way to play the same core mechanics. It ranks below the party games mainly because it rewards precision over chaos, which is a smaller audience. For a group that wants something sharper and more skill-based than Mario Party, nothing else on this list comes close.
