Game Pass has plenty of cozy games, and a fair number of them stop being cozy about forty minutes in. I spent today working through the catalogue to separate the real comfort picks from the ones with a pastel logo. Cozy games are also some of the few my wife actually wants to play with me, so I paid attention to those too. This is the list I would hand a friend.
I scored each game on cozy fit, Game Pass value, accessibility, staying power, and polish. Cozy fit counted most, and subscription value and approachability came next.

Quick Picks
Best for a long-term comfort game: Stardew Valley
Best for meditative evenings: PowerWash Simulator 2
Best for book lovers: Tiny Bookshop
Best for short wind-downs: Little Kitty, Big City
Best for pairs on the couch: Unravel Two
The Top 10 Cozy Games on Game Pass
Ten full games, all included in a Game Pass tier at the time of writing, and all gentle enough for a tired evening. The tier is noted where it matters.
One person made this. I keep thinking about that every time I load Stardew Valley, because it plays like a whole studio spent years on it. The loop is simple. Water crops, hit the mines, fish for ten minutes, give a villager their favourite gift, go to bed. It never gets boring, and I still cannot fully explain why. Co-op works too, with up to four farmhands on one farm. The first hour is denser than most cozy games, with menus and a calendar to learn, so it sits slightly behind the easiest pickups. Still the first thing I would install from Premium.

It sounds stupid. You point a pressure washer at a dirty shed for an hour. I said as much before I tried PowerWash Simulator 2, and then I lost a good chunk of today to it. The dirt percentage ticks up, a clean stripe appears under the nozzle, and your brain switches off. Podcasts and this game are a natural pair. It is also good fun to do together online, with someone else cleaning the other half of the building. Hunting for the last two percent of grime is the one moment of mild frustration. It is a small one. Easily the best non-farming pick here.

Most management games make you feel behind. Tiny Bookshop does not. You run a second-hand bookshop out of a little trailer in a seaside town, choose which spot to park in each morning, and match books to whatever the customer asks for. I played this one very recently, and the atmosphere is what stuck. Soft music, a harbour, and customers who want to chat. Decorating the trailer is more absorbing than it has any right to be. It is single-player only and the stakes are close to zero, so anyone wanting a challenge will drift off. For everyone else, it is the freshest cozy pick on the service.

Animal Crossing is the cozy game that holds for my whole family, so I judged Dreamlight Valley against it. For the first few evenings it keeps up. You gather, craft, decorate, and befriend Disney characters who always need something. Then the quest chains slow it down. Some errands send you across the map for the same ingredient three times, and it is a live-service game, so online outages can briefly lock connected features. Grew up on these films? The warmth carries it past the grind. It is also the only pick here that runs on the lowest Game Pass tier, Essential.

You are a cat. You are lost. Your only goal is to get home, and you are in no hurry. Little Kitty, Big City hands you a city to wander, hats to collect, and animals who each want something. I played it in one sitting after the kids were in bed, which is exactly how it wants to be played. Nobody punishes you for knocking a plant off a shelf. Quite the opposite. It is short and light on progression, so it ranks below the long-term staples, but as a low-effort wind-down it is hard to beat.

House Flipper is the one I expected to bounce off. Renovation sims can turn into homework, and the controller handling for placing furniture is fiddly. Then I scrubbed a filthy kitchen back to white tile and caught myself repainting a wall that was already fine. That before-and-after hit is the whole appeal. You clean, strip, paint, furnish, and get paid, with no timer or fail state. It sits lower than PowerWash Simulator 2 because the story is thin and the chore side gets repetitive over long runs. Decorating fans will get more out of it than anyone else.

Think of Unravel Two as the quiet cousin of It Takes Two, the game that got my wife through an entire story. Two small yarn creatures cross soft, handmade-looking landscapes, swinging off each other and tying knots to solve gentle puzzles. A few chase sequences get tense. They are short. The pace everywhere else is easy, and the second yarn follows you around if you play alone, so it works without a partner. I would put this one in front of a non-gamer first. It lands at seven because it is brief and needs the Ultimate tier, which narrows who can actually reach it.

It looks gorgeous on my S95F, though the QD-OLED flatters everything. Planet of Lana II is a cinematic puzzle-platformer where a girl and her small companion cross painted-looking landscapes with almost no dialogue. It is serene rather than strictly cozy, which is why it sits at eight. Machines and creatures can end a run, though checkpoints are generous, and the mood leans wistful. I love worlds that feel like places, and this linear one still manages it. Play it when you want quiet. Not when you want comfort.

You date the furniture. That is the premise of Date Everything!, and it commits fully. Put on a pair of magic glasses and the objects around the house become voiced characters with feelings about you. You pick dialogue options. Nothing ever feels like a test. I went in assuming a one-joke game and stayed longer than the joke deserved, mostly because the writing is quick and the cast is big. It is funnier than it is soothing, so it ranks lower on cozy fit, and anyone who wants to switch their brain off completely may find the reading a lot.

This one is for the sofa with small children on it. Bluey: The Videogame recreates the show's house and garden as gentle mini-games, with local co-op so a parent can join in. I have two kids, which is the only reason this got a proper look from me. Controls are simple enough for small hands, and nothing in it can go wrong. The catch is length and polish. It is short, a bit thin, and a notch below everything else here on presentation. Adults playing alone will not stay.

Honorable Mentions
These five narrowly missed the top ten, mostly on cozy fit or staying power.
Set Minecraft to Peaceful or Creative and it becomes one of the most relaxing things on the service. My own version is a cottage by a lake and an hour spent choosing which wood suits the roof. Default settings include zombies at dusk. It also asks you to bring your own goals, which suits some evenings and exhausts others. Game Pass value is enormous, and families can share a screen. Cozy is opt-in, and that is why it missed.
Viva Piñata is a garden you plant to attract wild piñatas, who move in once you have the right grass, pond, or tree. Watching a new species wander into your plot still feels like a small victory. I fired it up on the Series X today, and the art holds up far better than the menus, which belong to 2006. Sour piñatas and the rascal Professor Pester add friction but never real danger. Onboarding is the problem, because it throws a lot of systems at you early. Modern cozy games are kinder. Worth a weekend if you like light management.
Supermarket Simulator is chores as relaxation. You unbox crates, stock shelves, set prices, and watch a trickle of customers become a queue. I stocked shelves for an hour and rearranged the cereal aisle twice, which tells you how it goes. Hiring staff and getting the store to run itself feels earned. It scratches the same routine itch as PowerWash Simulator 2 and House Flipper, with less visual payoff and a rougher finish, which is why it stayed outside the ten. A good pick for podcast evenings.
Kabuto Park is the smaller discovery on this list. You spend a summer holiday catching bugs, and the loop is friendly rather than demanding, with light competition that never gets tense. It has a breezy, end-of-term feel that I enjoyed in a single sitting this afternoon. Then it was over. That short runtime is both the charm and the reason it missed the top ten, since staying power is low and progression is shallow. Kids will like it. So will adults who want a palate cleanser between longer games.
15. To a T
81%A teenager is stuck in a permanent T-pose, and the game is about getting through ordinary days anyway. It comes from the creator of Katamari Damacy, which explains the offbeat tone. Odd, but gently so. I did not expect something this strange to leave me so relaxed, yet the quiet routines and a cast of friendly oddballs do the job. It is a short story rather than a world to live in, so staying power is the weak spot and the reason it missed the top ten. Worth a quiet evening if you want a change from sims and builders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers on tiers, partners, and where to start.
Do I need Game Pass Ultimate to play these games?
Mostly no. At the time of writing, Disney Dreamlight Valley sits on Essential, Unravel Two needs Ultimate, and the rest of the list is on Premium. Tiers and catalogues shift, so check the store page before you download.
Which game is easiest for someone who barely plays?
Little Kitty, Big City and PowerWash Simulator 2 both teach themselves in minutes and punish nothing. Stardew Valley is the better long-term pick, but its first hour has more menus to wade through.
Can I play these with a partner or kids?
Several support it. Stardew Valley offers co-op for up to four players, PowerWash Simulator 2 has online co-op, and Unravel Two and Bluey: The Videogame offer local co-op. Cozy games are some of the few my wife wants to play with me, so I weigh this heavily.
Will these games leave Game Pass?
Any game can leave the catalogue, and the service lists what is leaving soon. Check that list before you start something long, and install the one you are curious about while it is still there.
Are there cozy games on Game Pass besides farming sims?
Plenty. This list covers cleaning, bookselling, a lost cat, puzzle-platformers, and a dating sim about household objects. Farming is just the most famous corner of the genre.
Conclusion
Cozy on Game Pass covers more ground than farming, from Stardew Valley's routines to a bookshop on wheels and a very lost cat. Pick by mood and by how much energy you have left, because nobody needs all ten.
