I would not recommend paying full price for it. On a deep discount or via subscription access it is worth a look, particularly for groups that burned out on Call of Duty's pacing and want something with more physical scale. The player base is thinner than it was and the new-player experience is rough.

The moment a coordinated squad takes a point while a tank rolls through smoke and a helicopter covers the approach overhead is the kind of thing that does not happen in a five-versus-five match. I gravitate toward support roles in squad shooters, and the objective-heavy structure here rewards players who pay attention to what their team actually needs rather than just chasing kills. It is a bigger, messier, louder experience than Call of Duty and that is entirely the point. If your group wants something with scale and tactical variety rather than tight arena gunfights, this is where you go.

A new Battlefield earns serious consideration on a PS5 PvP list simply because the scale of what it does is unavailable anywhere else. Combined-arms fights across wide maps, where an armored column holds a flank while infantry clears a building nearby, create moments that smaller team shooters cannot replicate. The trade-off is structure: Battlefield 6 has no formal ranked ladder, and the sandbox design means skill expression is messier to measure than in round-based games. It sits at eight because the competitive case is weaker than everything above it, not because the game itself is weaker. Worth it for the sheer spectacle.
