Heroes of Hammerwatch II is built around the kind of quick-restart loop that LAN nights actually need. A run ends, badly or well, and you are back in town spending loot within a minute. No lengthy reload, no long explanation. That restart speed reminds me of why Left 4 Dead 2 has stayed in my group's rotation for years, since nobody has to sit through a long setup to get back into it. Classes and loot give it a real RPG identity, and the persistent town upgrades mean a bad run still moves your group forward. It is a top-down roguelite first and an RPG second, which shows in how thin the character systems feel next to Grim Dawn or Divinity higher up this list.
