The Last of Us is why I play games at all, and this is the same pull in a smaller, older package. You play Lee Everett, a man with a past he would rather hide, looking after a girl called Clementine across five episodes of decisions that never feel clean. Seeing the prompt that Clementine will remember what you just did is still more unsettling than most monsters. The horror is dread and moral pressure rather than jump scares, which is why it ranks ninth, and the puzzle sections are thin. It is listed for console only on Game Pass, so PC subscribers will not find it. Story first, scares second.
