Rainbow Six Extraction is the one I most wanted to love and ended up just liking. The tactical retreat-or-push tension is genuinely well designed. Each mission asks you to weigh how much risk is worth the extra loot, and playing it with two friends over headsets, communicating about sightlines, is when it clicks. The problem in 2026 is momentum. The playerbase has thinned enough that solo queuing can mean a real wait, and the live-service updates that once kept it fresh have slowed to a crawl. If you've got two friends ready to commit regularly, it's still worth downloading. Going in solo and hoping for quick matchmaking is a rougher ask than it used to be.

Rainbow Six Extraction is the best tactical, slow-burn co-op option that didn't quite make the top ten. Three players moving carefully through alien-infested environments, using operator abilities to breach, scan, and suppress—it rewards patience and communication in a way the action shooters on this list don't. The reason it sits here instead of the main list is that content depth is limited compared to everything ranked above it, and player counts have dropped since launch. The biggest upside: it's included in PS Plus Extra at no additional cost, which dramatically lowers the barrier to trying it with friends.
