Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Dying Light 2 has a large co-op open world, real skill progression, gear systems, and a campaign that runs for dozens of hours. What keeps it out of the top ten is that the parkour-survival identity sits in front of the RPG identity in a way that matters for this specific list. If your group loves movement-based action and wants skill trees alongside it, this is absolutely worth picking up. The PS5 version runs well and four-player co-op across the main story is genuinely enjoyable. It is a co-op game with RPG elements rather than a co-op RPG, but the line is close enough that the right group will not mind.

Parkour in first-person is one of those mechanics that sounds better on paper than it plays. Dying Light 2 is one of the exceptions. Running across rooftops with a friend while a horde streams below you, both of you vaulting the same obstacles a half-second apart, is the kind of moment this genre produces rarely. The city is big and genuinely worth roaming. There is a caveat with story progression that matters if your group is at different points in the campaign, as the host's state governs the session and late-game content can be gated. Worth knowing upfront. For groups starting together from the beginning, though, this is one of the better pure open-world co-op experiences on PS5.

The day/night cycle in Dying Light 2 creates a shared survival tension that I haven't found in anything else on this list. During the day you're exploring and completing missions at a reasonable pace; at night the infected multiply and the open world genuinely feels dangerous. Playing through that shift with a partner — deciding together whether to push on or find shelter — is a specific kind of co-op experience. The parkour system also creates natural role differentiation: one player clears hazards up top while the other handles ground-level threats. Online only, no couch mode, but cross-play is supported. The campaign is long, and the early hours require patience before it fully opens up.
