College football barely exists on Dutch television. My relationship with the sport lives on YouTube highlight clips, usually on a Sunday morning before the kids wake up. That distance did not matter once I had a controller in hand. College Football 27 plays with a rhythm the pro game does not have: playbooks vary by school, crowds react to momentum, and Dynasty mode gave me a reason to keep coming back across a whole season. I went in expecting a Madden reskin. I came out preferring it to EA FC, which says something given how many hours that series has taken from me. Not many alternatives currently match its atmosphere on Xbox.
