Most of my Pokemon history happened on a Game Boy during summer holidays, trading with friends to fill a Pokedex I never finished. Legends Arceus is the first Switch Pokemon game that made me feel like I was standing in that world, not walking a corridor of grass tiles waiting for a random encounter. No corridors here. You can watch Pokemon roam Hisui from a distance and sneak a catch in without a battle, which is exactly the open, curious structure I want from an open world. I picked this over Legends Z-A because Arceus came first and changed how the series plays. It's also the roughest technically, pop-in and frame dips Game Freak never fully patched. If you gave up on mainline Pokemon years ago, this might bring you back.
