Splatoon 3 doesn't need coordination to be fun. Turf War matchmaking drops you into a four-on-four ink match with strangers, no headset required, and it works fine in total silence. Salmon Run is the one that gets me. It scales the way Left 4 Dead 2 does, adjusting to whatever your group actually brings, so a mismatched squad still has a shot. I've run Salmon Run shifts with my Arctis Nova 7P on, and a lobby calling out Cohock spawns plays completely differently from a silent one. Worth the headset. Ranked Anarchy Battles ask a lot more than Turf War, and that jump feels steeper than it should. This is the most complete online shooter Nintendo has ever put on Switch.

Splatoon 3 is the only shooter on Switch that Nintendo built from the ground up for the platform, and it shows. Matches run fast and stay readable even in handheld mode. The hook is covering ground in ink rather than tracking kill counts, which makes it feel different from every other team shooter and accessible to players who bounce off traditional military-style games. No local multiplayer is a real limitation for couch sessions, though. This is an online game, full stop. If you have a regular online group and you want something structured and competitive that is not just another battle royale, Splatoon 3 is where I'd send you.
