I don't trust hype, and extraction shooters generate plenty of it, so ARC Raiders had to earn this spot. It's a third-person PvPvE scavenger hunt: you drop into a map for salvage, robotic ARC enemies patrol the open areas, and other squads are the real threat because they can just take everything you've already collected. That tension, deciding whether to push for one more loot room or cut your losses and run for extraction, is the entire appeal, and it works. The 2026 roadmap suggests Embark is building this as a long-term platform, not a launch curiosity. It's newer than everything else here, and the player base hasn't been tested by years the way Destiny 2's has. Small squads, high tension.

ARC Raiders brings extraction tension to PS5 in a third-person format that feels distinct from the rest of this list. The scavenging pressure and risk-reward loop of deciding when to extract create a competitive layer that pure arena shooters do not offer. My group tried it specifically because we wanted something newer than battle royale, and the squad coordination required to survive a raid and get out cleanly scratched that itch. What kept it out of the main ranking is the absence of a formal ranked structure and an ecosystem that is still early in its life. Worth watching as it matures.
